Treatments for Under-Eye Dark Circles, Bags & Discoloration

Bruises, bagging and dark circles in the under-eye area are among the most common aesthetic complaints that make the person look more tired, sad and older than they are. Problems in this delicate area can be caused by several different reasons such as genetic predisposition, decreasing bone and fat tissue with age, thin skin or increased pigmentation. Therefore, instead of offering a standard solution for each individual, it is the most effective approach to create a personalized treatment protocol by accurately identifying the source of the problem. In our clinic, different and modern treatment options are offered for each problem with this holistic approach to eye contour aesthetics.

One of the most common causes of tired expression under the eyes is the loss of volume between the cheeks and under the eyes, i.e. the hollowness. This depression, also known as the “tear trough”, causes a shadow to fall on the area, leading to a darkness that does not actually exist. The most effective solution in this case is a special hyaluronic acid filler application called “Light Filler”. This fine-structured filler, specially developed for the under-eye area, is carefully injected into the sunken area, gently elevating the area and providing a smooth transition with the surrounding tissues. In this way, the shadowing effect is instantly eliminated and the gaze becomes brighter and more rested.

In some cases, the problem is not the loss of volume, but the color of the underlying veins and muscle tissue reflecting outward because the under-eye skin is very thin. This gives the skin a purple or bluish color. The goal in this type of problem is to improve the quality of the skin and make it thicker and more opaque. For this purpose, mesotherapy cocktails specially formulated for the under-eye area are used. These mixtures containing vitamins, antioxidants, blood circulation regulators and amino acids are injected under the skin with very fine needles to improve blood circulation in the area, trigger skin repair mechanisms and increase collagen production. This treatment, which is applied in sessions, provides the skin with a healthier, more durable and luminous structure over time.

If the darkness under the eyes is not caused by shadowing or vascular structure, but directly by brown staining of the skin itself, i.e. increased pigment, then more technological methods are used. Special laser systems that target the melanin pigment in the skin help to lighten the skin tone by breaking down the color cells in this area. Energy-based devices such as radiofrequency can also be incorporated into the treatment plan to tighten the skin, reduce fine wrinkles and promote collagen production.

Often the best and most natural results are achieved by combining several different treatments on an individualized basis, rather than a single method. For example, combining light filling with mesotherapy sessions in a patient with volume loss offers a much more holistic improvement by eliminating both the sunkenness and improving skin quality. For this reason, the first step in determining the most appropriate treatment is a detailed eye contour analysis by a specialist physician. All these procedures are performed very comfortably thanks to the anesthetic creams applied to the area before the application. Since the eye area is a sensitive area, there may be a slight swelling or bruising after the procedure, but this is temporary.
